About the Senior Project Engineering position

Our Project Engineers drive Avidyne’s engineering innovation. As key members of a multidisciplinary, tight-knit group of engineers and technicians tackling next-generation avionics projects, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the engineering project execution in the areas of requirements and scheduling.

Routine tasks include coordinating with other engineering disciplines to drive task closure. Additionally, our Senior Project Engineers are responsible for clearly articulating the state of programs to customers and senior Avidyne leadership.

Our Senior Project Engineers must specialize in the following technical areas:

  • Experience supporting a project team through creative problem-solving, obstacle removal, facilitation, capacity planning, and communication, while drawing upon core values of mutual respect and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and/or avionics sub-systems.
  • Knowledge of project and/or program lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment for the design and production of goods and services.
  • Knowledge of effective communication styles across varying audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize, assign, and handle tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Our Senior Project Engineers' responsibilities may include:

  • Leading midsize projects around project planning and execution for avionics development programs.
  • Participating in proposal responses to properly capture the work being requested.
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to ensure Avidyne’s products are engineered properly, meet customer and certification requirements, and are manufacturable.
  • Effectively manage the workflow for complex engineering projects (including requirements gathering, resource management, product development, verification/testing, and risk/opportunity management) to ensure predictable schedules, costs, and requirement satisfaction.
  • Driving team motivation, morale, and accountability to positively achieve project objectives.
  • Communicating with both internal and external audiences regarding project activities through a variety of media, including written materials and verbal presentations, often serving as meeting facilitator.
  • Effectively and independently present to Avidyne leadership the status of projects under their span of control.
  • Managing risks that manifest in projects when building systems-level solutions spanning multiple engineering disciplines with varying program requirements.
  • Writing, reviewing, or maintaining engineering designs, documentation, and specifications for avionics requirements.
  • Providing technical direction and mentorship to other engineers, engineering technicians, and/or engineering interns, as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of science in systems, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or other STEM program of study plus with 5 years industry experience with project and/or program management.
  • Alternatively, a master's degree in systems, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or other STEM program of study with 3 years of industry experience with project and/or program management.
